2020 Chesapeake Writers’ Conference: Words. Water. Woods: Write on the River.

2020 Cherry Tree Young Writers’ Conference Moves Online

This year the Cherry Tree Young Writers’ Conference will be held online. With this change, the conference will still involve the same great faculty, craft discussions, readings, and literary camaraderie that the face-to-face conference promised.
The dates stay the same: July 15-18 with a similar schedule, and the price to participate has been discounted. Scholarships are still available.

Event :: Summer 2020 Writers Institute at Washington University in St. Louis
They are monitoring the current situation, but are hopeful the Summer Writers Institute will be able to happen as planned. This annual event brings together many of St. Louis’ finest writers to share their expertise with students who are serious about developing their writing. This year celebrates their 25th anniversary. The Institute is an intensive two-week program featuring workshops in fiction, micro-fiction, poetry, and personal narrative. Deadline to register is July 16. Learn Online with Carve Magazine
Besides being both an online and print literary magazine, Carve also offers online writing classes and online workshops. Did you know that?
They currently offer two writing classes on the Wet Ink platform: Short Story Writing: Fundamentals and Short Story Writing Techniques. Theses classes both run five weeks and are held multiple times during the year.
Fundamentals consists of five lessons: Character & Plot, Point of View, Dialogue, Inner Monologue, and Description.

Techniques consists of five lessons: Use of Senses, Imagery, Metaphors & Similes, Rhythm & Pacing, and Threading.

Their Online Writing Workshop is devoted to editing for short stories or essays. This is a 10-week course where you get one-on-one attention from a Carve editor. Their next workshops start on June 1 and September 14.

The Writer’s Hotel Postpones June All-Fiction Writers Conference
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Writer’s Hotel has decided to postpone its annual summer NYC All-Fiction Writers Conference. The event was originally going to take place June 3-9, but is now slated for October 14-20. The application deadline is now August 9. Follow The Writer’s Hotel on social media for updates on their events.
Alongkian Writer Conferences June 2020 New York Pitch Conference
Algonkian Writer Conferences hosts the New York Pitch Conference and writers workshop four times a year. The next event is taking place June 18 through 21. Their goal is to help set writers on a realistic path to publication.
This event focuses on the art of the novel pitch “as the best method not only for communicating your work, but for having you and your work taken seriously by industry professionals.”
