Magazine Stand :: Craft – April 2022

Reading submissions and posting works on a rolling basis, CRAFT publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, and various craft articles. CRAFT does not charge fees for writers or readers and is a paying market with “no capacity limits.” They also offer editorial feedback on short and flash fiction and offer a “fast response” category as well. Recent contributors to the site include Pete Stevens, Amina Gautier, Tara Isabel Sambrano, Rosaleen Lynch, Oktavia Brownlow, Zoe Ballering, Jane Marcellus, Bryan Okwesili, “Never Rush a Rabbit: Prey Animals & Choices in Fiction” craft essay by Lee Upton, and “Conversations Between Friends” with Gale Massey and Louise Marburg. CRAFT also provides a page of Resources on Racism in Publishing.

CRAFT 2nd Annual All-Flash November

For the second year in a row, literary magazine CRAFT will be focusing on flash pieces in November. This was kicked off with new flash fiction from Kim Magowan on November 6.

Follow their site for the latest flash pieces from Despy Boutris, Lori Sambol Brody, Lindsey Harding, and Paul Crenshaw. Plus, you’ll also find Amy Barnes tackling Nancy Stohlman’s Going Short and Kristin Tenor’s hybrid interview with Tara Isabel Zambrano on Death, Desire, and Other Destinations.

CRAFT 2019 First Chapters WinnersOnline literary magazine CRAFT published the winners of its 2019 First Chapters Contest over the course of February.

The contest was judged by Naomi Huffman of MCDxFSG and FSG Originals.

In first place is “Paradise Pawn” by Meg Richardson.

In second place is “Little Squirrel” by Tim Hickey.

In third place is “Empire of Dirt” by Jonathan Bohr Heinen.
