We opened in October 2000, focusing on a diverse fiction collection, children's books, history, and anything else we think is really interesting. If we don’t have something in stock we can always order it for you. We also have a free frequent buyer program, in place since we opened. We know you have many options about where you can buy books and we really really appreciate that you chose us. The buyer program is free to sign up for and takes just moments while you’re in the store.

As a tool to help increase literacy, African American children will benefit by seeing themselves respectfully represented in the literature they read. Non-African American children will benefit by helping to dispel negative and inaccurate stereotypical images of people of color and that despite our many differences, all people share common feelings and aspirations.
