Publisher’s description: Better Than Starbucks is a literary journal which promotes diversity and inclusiveness. We publish both new and established poets and authors.
Our poetry includes free verse, haiku, formal poetry, experimental and form poetry, poetry translations, poetry for children, and we also have special sections for African poets and International poets.
We also publish fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, and creative nonfiction.
Each issue features a poetry interview, with a featured section of poems by the interviewee, and we welcome guest interviewers.
We invite submissions of original artwork for consideration as cover art for our print editions.
The journal is operated, not for profit, by dedicated volunteers. Six contributor poems or stories in each issue are featured and receive an honorarium of $20. All other contributors receive their choice of a free pdf or ebook version of the issue. We also run an annual contest for a metered sonnet, with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We never charge reading or submission fees.
We publish bimonthly or every two months and accept submissions year-round. Over 30 issues are available to read in full in our archives online.
