Program description: University of South Alabama Creative Writing students can choose a concentration in creative writing and take workshops, literature classes, and editing courses with a creative writing thesis culminating their work. The Stokes Center for Creative Writing within the department fosters a vibrant writers’ community that engages in community projects as well as hosts writers from across the country to give readings and teach master classes. Past recent visiting writers have included Roxane Gay, Danez Smith, Brandon Hobson, Emily St. John Mandel, Jamaal May, Diana Khoi Nguyen, and many others.
