Program description: Chatham MFA in Creative Writing is the premier graduate program for nurturing creative writers who are interested in nature and place-based writing or arts and social engagement programs.

Offered in both a full and a low-residency format, our programs are inspired by the work of Chatham alumna, Rachel Carson, a creative writer with a social conscience. The heart of our program honors Carson’s legacy of environmental care but expands the interpretation of environment to include any place, natural or built, that intersects with human identity.

Chatham MFA is the only program in the country offering a residency at Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater.
