Music is a powerful inspiration, one we can visit again and again—just like movies and television.

Recently, I spent two nights marathoning Glass Heart, a Japanese drama based on a novel. Was it perfect? No. At times, I found myself baffled by characters who seemed to live by the adage “always keep them guessing.” But it was addictive.

It stars Satoh Takeru, an incredible actor—equally skilled in slapstick and silliness as he is in dramatic, heavy roles—playing a music genius on a quest to create the ultimate band. Of course, he carries a heavy secret. Enter a drummer who inspired his music and moved his heart, someone who must learn to blend their own rhythms with the band’s unique sound.

The show shares some thematic DNA with K-pop Demon Hunters: the pursuit of dreams and ambitions, the creation of deep bonds that feel like family within a group, and the arduous journey to craft something new and beautiful—something that can only be described as your sound.

Watching Glass Heart reminded me that creating with others changes everything. It’s no longer just your voice—it’s a fusion, a shared rhythm that couldn’t exist without each person’s talent and vision. The struggle and joy of melding those voices into one is a story in itself.

This week, I invite you to step into that space. Imagine yourself as part of a creative force, whether that’s a literal band, a poetry troupe, or an imagined ensemble of artists, and see what you can make together.
