Books on the Square began operations in 1993. Today it consists of three buildings full of used and collectible materials.

We have a wide selection of LPs, CDs, books, and movies. We also offer bulk 33rpm & 45rpm sleeves & jackets as well as 45rpm adapters for your turntables!

Located in the heart of historic downtown Springfield, Prairie Archives has been serving Central Illinois since 1973. We have occupied three locations since our founding and we’ve been at our current store since 1992. We have approximately 250,000 books in stock, documents, manuscript material, posters, prints, comics, collectibles, magazines, political buttons, postcards, and lots more. If you don’t see a title you’re looking for, please feel free to inquire; only a small part of our stock is catalogued.

We are an independent bookstore for all ages with a friendly knowledgeable staff located in historic Century Corners in downtown St. Charles, Illinois.

Our Washington location is approximately 2,000 square feet and stocks over 20,000 items. Together we process approximately 250-500 used books daily through our trade credit program. New items hit the shelves every day! We currently offer new books at highly discounted rates and our online marketplace has an inventory of approx 300 rare and unusual books. We stock CDs, DVDs, and audio books as well.
