Bellingham Review Writing ContestsBellingham Review.

Bellingham Review awards three $1,000 prizes in each of our internationally recognized literary contests: the Annie Dillard Award for Creative Nonfiction, the Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction, and the 49th Parallel Award for Poetry. The first entry costs $20, and each additional entry in the same genre costs $10. All entrants receive a one-year subscription to Bellingham Review. All manuscripts are read blindly. Glimmer Train contest guideGlimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers. Deadline February 29.

Results announced April 30. Open to writers whose fiction hasn’t appeared in a print publication with a circulation >5000. First place: $1500 and publication in Glimmer Train. In a year's time we pay writers over $45,000, nearly a third of that going to new writers. In the recent Best American Short Stories, of the top "100 distinguished short stories," six appeared in Glimmer Train, second only to the New Yorker. The Creative Nonfiction Down Under Essay Contest.

Creative Nonfiction, in association with the Australian arts company, Tashmadada, seeks new essays for a special "Australia" issue. We're looking for a variety of perspectives—from locals, expats, tourists, or anyone else—and will consider essays of all forms and focuses as long as Australia's landscape, people, and/or culture are prominently featured; the stories are true; and submissions are previously unpublished.
