Established 1975, we are the sole remaining full-service independent bookstore in our city. We offer a special order service and out-of-print search service. Our longevity is thanks to our excellent staff. Our strength is in children's books, toys, games, puzzles and other gift items, but we maintain a good general interest adult assortment as well. We support professional conferences, conventions and meetings with custom book displays. Audrey's sales to schools and libraries in the area is growing steadily, in part as a result of our excellent School Book Fair assortments.

Bakka first opened its doors in 1972. The name, Bakka, was taken from Frank Herbert’s DUNE, and means ‘the weeper who mourns for all mankind’. Since then, the store has changed owners, locations, and even its name (slightly). But what hasn’t changed is our knowledge of, commitment to, and sheer darned enjoyment of science fiction and fantasy. We host tons of author appearances, readings, panels, and offsite events of all kinds. We’re Canada’s oldest SF&F bookstore, and we’re proud to be part of the greater community.
