Program description: Our 2 1/2-year program offers students a personalized learning experience with access to San Francisco’s vital literary community. Students focus on fiction (including the novel), poetry, or nonfiction and may cross genres. In small workshops and seminars students work closely with award-winning writers. Thesis instruction provides one-on-one mentoring with faculty for two semesters. The Reading Series brings acclaimed writers to campus. Students have the opportunity to gain professional development and to work on our journal Switchback. Merit fellowships, including a fully-funded biannual poetry fellowship, teaching assistantships, and post-graduate teaching fellowships are offered.
