Program description: The mission of Rosemont College’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing is to empower students with real-life skills and experiences that will enable them to achieve their professional and creative goals as writers, and to become productive contributors of larger writing communities as authors, teachers, publishers, and readers. We have envisioned a program where the students have opportunities to work with established and accomplished writers, editors, and industry professionals, in a variety of settings that allow our students to blossom and discover their own unique voices as writers.
Students have the opportunity to choose poetry or prose and are encouraged to explore new genres and techniques. The campus hosts free workshops and a reading series that encourages student interaction within the larger Philadelphia writing community. Graduate assistantships and a limited number of teaching assistantships are also available to help defray costs and to help students build their resumes before graduation. Rathalla Review is a lively collaboration and solely run by the MFA in Creative Writing students and the MA in Publishing students. Rosemont College also offers a unique Double Degree program where students can earn both an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in Publishing.
