Program description: Manhattanville College’s MFA Creative Writing program draws on New York’s abundant resources and energy to create a nurturing, rigorous creative experience just half an hour to the north of the city. The program now offers courses in graphic narrative for students who wish to work toward a thesis appropriate to that medium. Our unique, non-tracking curriculum allows students to work in a variety of genres, to experiment with cross-genre writing, or to focus on a single genre with gifted teachers and mentors who are also award-winning authors. The program aims to create a vibrant literary community that begins in the MFA program but keeps our alumni coming back to their creative home on campus. The two-year program can be completed part time over five years, and evening and weekend courses are offered. Graduate student housing is available well below the region’s rental rates; some students opt to live in New York City and commute.
