Program Description: With 15-day summer residencies held exclusively in European cities—Dublin, Barcelona, Vienna—the Cedar Crest College low-residency MFA in Creative Writing offers writers the inspiration of place as they hone their craft with accomplished faculty mentors. The study of how location leads to artistic inspiration complements our workshops and one-on-one tutorials grounded in shaping the written word. Our students join an international community of authors with study in fiction, nonfiction, or poetry.
We understand the irony faced by all writers: To carefully hone your craft, you need periods of solitude, spent refining and reflecting upon your work. But you also need periods of intense interaction with a supportive and knowledgeable community of writers who provide valuable feedback and guidance. The Cedar Crest College Pan-European MFA in Creative Writing provides you with both.
During the year, craft your writing where you live or where your travels take you, while receiving monthly guidance and feedback from a faculty-mentor. For our summer residencies, take in the rich artistic history of European cities during intensive and inspiring residency workshops and tutorials. This program does not require any on-campus coursework in the US, so it is ideal for students from around the world.
