Baine's Books & Coffee

We are a small coffee/book/cafe/music venue/musical instrument/art store located in the historic district of Appomattox, Virginia. Come visit us!

We opened our doors at this location in 2007, hosting a bookstore, inviting bar, and two event spaces. The Robeson Room, named after 20th-century renaissance man Paul Robeson, the larger of the two, seats about 80 people, and is where open mics, author events, and higher-attendance happenings take place. The smaller events space Paul’s Den seats about 40 people. Paul’s Den hosts our monthly book club and private gatherings.

For more than 30 years, Child’s Play has sold thoughtful toys and books at multiple locations, specially curated to develop children’s sense of wonder and play. Because play is the most important part of childhood. 

One More Page Books & More, an independent bookstore, opened January 2011 in North Arlington. Enjoy events, activities, and of course, buy books, wonderful wine and chocolate, cards, and gifts at One More Page Books & More. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Peach Street Books is a place for people who enjoy books and reading. Our building is a historic renovation of a 1930s Pure Oil Station and attached garage of later vintage. PSB includes gently used and new books in its inventory for purchase. Used books are marked at half the cover price or less. We also serve bagels and Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting Company coffee. The Blue Whale sells books, original prints, and antiquarian maps. We have about 20,000 used books, and hundreds of antiquarian/rare books. We also have 1,000 original prints, especially chromolithographs from the 1800s. Our maps are 18th and 19th century, with the occasional early Virginia map from the early or mid-1600s. The owner also performs appraisals on a regular basis.

We sell all books for 50% off the retail price. DVD’s sell for $8 each or 3 for $21. Vinyl records, VHS, and CDs sell for $5 each or 3 for $12. We give half this amount in trade credit for the items you bring in that we accept. We’re always happy to look at what you want to trade at any time. Our trade policy is customer friendly. There are no hidden fees and you can use your credit from the Book Exchange and Movie & Music Exchange toward the purchase of anything in either store at any time.
