Basically Books specializes in books, maps, music and gifts with a Hawaiian theme. It has the largest Hawaiian music selection on the island of Hawai’i and has one of the largest collections of maps in the state. Our children’s section includes books, plush, toys, puppets. Bath and body products and local crafts are made in Hawai’i. Since first opening in 1985, we have grown and evolved into a gathering place in Hilo for authors and musicians. Special events at the store help us connect members of our community.

Big Island BookBuyers is a great source for gently used and out of print used books and DVDs. And we also carry a selection of new materials including books of the Hawaiiana, tour guide and local author genres, as well as maps, calendars and locally produced greeting cards.
