Cat Yard Bookshop is a tiny, independent bookshop operating out of a garage here in Skowhegan, Maine. Skowhegan hasn’t had a bookstore in over a decade, and I wanted to change that. I started small: shelves I built myself, secondhand books, a space where people could stop by, talk about what they’re reading, and find affordable books to take home. It’s become more than a shop; it’s a cozy gathering place for readers and neighbors who’ve missed having a spot like this in town.
