Publisher's description: Valley Voices: A Literary Review is located in the heartland of the Mississippi Delta. It is dedicated to readers and writers with a purpose to promote works of the writers from the Delta and other regions and foster appreciation of the literary diversity of our multicultural society in the Mississippi Delta.
Some special issues featuring The Mississippi Writers, Poetic Translation in a Global Context, The Richard Wright Centennial, Sterling Plumpp, and Tennessee Williams are guest-edited by well-known scholars such as Philip Kolin and Christopher Maurer. Valley Voices also runs a campus issue to promote works of the Valley students.
Though we hope to see more creative work about the South, Valley Voices features fiction, poetry, interviews, and criticism from writers and scholars anywhere. Authors we have published include John Hart, Ted Haddin, Tayari Jones, Lenard D. Moore, Linda Pastan, Hermine Pinson, Sterling Plump, Patrick Pritchett, Larry Sams, Jean-Mark Sens, Sue Walker, Jerry Ward, Joe Wilkins, and Steve Yates.
We hope you will find, as Charles Davenport says in his review on NewPages, that "The great Mississippi River comes alive on every page." He says, "I want it to carry me away."
