Publisher’s description: Founded in 1986, Zone 3 is published biannually by the Center for Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University. We publish writers who have not yet published their first book as well as established, award-winning writers. In our desire to publish new authors, we do our best to provide a place that best showcases their work. Each issue is “handsomely presented, graphically clean.” In our long history, we’ve published work by William Stafford, Marge Piercy, Judith Ortiz Cofer, Gregory Orr, Diane Wakoski, Neal Bowers, Coleman Barks, Michael Burkard, Ioanna Warwick, R.T. Smith, and George Scarbrough, Recent contributors include A. Van Jordan, David Keplinger, Paulette Roeske, Gina Ochsner, Robert McBrearty, Bryan DiSalvatore, Michael Blumenthal, Andrew Kozma, Leigh Anne Couch, and Hannah Selinger.
We look for well-crafted poetry that surprises us, and we look for stories that speak to the heart as well as the head, that are fresh and free of clichés, but that have a chance of being read again 10 years from now. We hope you’ll submit your best work to us.
