Publisher’s Description: PRISM international is the oldest literary magazine in Western Canada and one of the country’s only forums for truly international voices. PRISM has won numerous awards including the Journey Prize and the National Magazine Award, and has been listed among Writer's Digest's Top 20 Magazines in North America. PRISM publishes innovative short fiction, poetry, drama, creative non-fiction and works of contemporary translation.

Published quarterly since 1959, PRISM’s pages have included the writing of Margaret Atwood, Bertolt Brecht, Charles Bukowski, Raymond Carver, Evelyn Lau, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Joyce Carol Oates and Tennessee Williams. In addition, each issue features stunning cover art by renowned visual artists such as Mark Ryden and The Clayton Brothers.

At PRISM, we believe that good writing should be rewarded--our high contributor fees are part of our continued support for the writing community. PRISM is the home of the Earl Birney Prize for Poetry, awarded each year to the best poem to appear in our pages, and our annual fiction and non-fiction contests draw first-rate writing from around the world.
