Publisher’s description: Named for Georgia State University’s New South Writing Workshop, New South publishes fiction, poetry, and non-fiction that offers us a new perspective on the world. We publish high quality work, regardless of form, genre, or regional ties. We do not solely publish work written by or about the Southern United States. Rather, our goal is to reflect the diversity and range of experience represented by our home, Atlanta, Georgia, a thriving urban metropolis.
Managed entirely by graduate students in GSU’s Creative Writing Department, New South publishes what is new, what is fresh, what is different, whether it comes from the Southern United States, the South of India, the North of England, or the North, East or West of Anywhere. Some of what we publish adheres to tradition, some leans toward the experimental and radical, but the common thread is that the work we publish challenges readers to look in a new direction and to see the world in a new light.
