Publisher’s description: Bellevue Literary Review is an independent literary journal that probes the nuances of our lives both in illness and health. The premier literary journal of this genre, BLR is committed to seeking a diversity of voices from all communities and all walks of life. Contributors include emerging authors—many of whom had their first publication in BLR—as well as established voices, including Rafael Campo, Amy Hempel, Abraham Verghese, Paul Harding, Edward Hirsch, Naomi Shihab Nye, Rachel Hadas, and Cornelius Eady.

Works from the BLR have been reprinted or noted in the Pushcart Prize anthology, Best American Short Stories, Best American Essays, Best American Non-Required Reading, Best American Travel Writing, and Best Creative Nonfiction.

The annual BLR Prizes award outstanding writing in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry and have been judged by such noted writers as Crystal Valentine, Mark Doty, Susan Orlean, Bryan Washington, Ariel Levy, Ha Jin, Francine Prose, and Ada Limon, among others.

In addition to our two annual print issues, BLR offers a wide range of events at the intersection of the arts and the sciences.  Visit our website for more information.
